As senior marketing director for Pepsi Sports, Mark Rooks leads the development of short-term strategy and marketing activation for Pepsi’s U.S. sports partnerships with the National Football League; Major League Baseball; the National Hockey League; U.S. men’s and women’s soccer teams; Dale Earnhardt Jr.; Jeff Gordon; and the Alli Sports Dew Tour, as well as countless professional athletes including pro skateboarder Paul Rodriguez and New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. Rooks’ team manages the activation for jewel events such as the Super Bowl, Winter Classic and the Daytona 500, as well as relationships with venues such as Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Citi Field and the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.
Rooks joined the Pepsi-Cola Company in 1999 and has served in various marketing roles. He was the senior brand manager on Mountain Dew, leading the re-formulation and re-launch of Diet Mountain Dew. He served as director of marketing for the North American Coffee Partnership, a 50-50 joint venture between Starbucks and Pepsi-Cola, and was responsible for a $1 billion-plus retail ready-to-drink coffee business which included brands such as bottled Frappuccino and DoubleShot. He also led the successful launch of Starbucks DoubleShot Energy + Coffee (the largest category innovation in over a decade).
